Excessen is a short film by Mick Hooghwinkel, in which he visualized a powerful poem by Simon Mamahit, the city poet of Nijmegen, 
through cinematic imagery. With evocative visuals and a strong sense of atmosphere, Mick brings Simon’s words to life on screen.

A stark contrast between wealth and poverty unfolds, revealing two lives existing within the same city, one surrounded by abundance, the other living in uncertainty. Excessen is a visual exploration of inequality, emotion, and human connection, blending poetry and cinematography into one cohesive story.
