For The Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen, we created a series of portraits as part of the exhibition Bittere Oogst.

This exhibition reflects on the Dutch slavery past, and we interviewed the artists behind the poster to share their stories and creative processes.

Zoë Rullens, who works at Studio Wirwar in Den Bosch, is one of eight visual artists who collaborated on the Bittere Oogst x Studio Boot project. For the theme “Generational Trauma,” she created a deeply personal design that visualizes how the past continues to shape the present.

Edwin Vollebergh is a graphic designer and co-owner of Studio Boot. Together with Petra Janssen, he curated the Bittere Oogst x Studio Boot poster project and selected eight visual artists for the series. He also created the first poster himself, a warm image, yet not without complex meaning. ☕️
